Targeted, open and constructive cooperation of various institutions and organizations, specialists and activists in shaping policy to address substance abuse and related problems in Lithuania.
Mission
Based on the principles of humanism, tolerance, partnership and respect for human rights and freedoms, to seek effective solutions to substance abuse and related problems, and build a safe and healthy society.
Goals
- To reduce obstacles for vulnerable groups to seek and receive medical, social or other assistance.
- To seek that decision-makers, implementing institutions and persons directly involved with vulnerable groups properly understand the needs of such groups.
- To reduce stigmatization and discrimination of vulnerable groups by shaping public opinion.
- To promote the integration and re-socialization systems for vulnerable groups, as well as the development and financing of implementation mechanisms of such systems.
- To advocate for effective implementation and employment of harm reduction principles in the national drug control, substance abuse prevention and HIV/AIDS prevention policies.
- To build the capacity of our member institutions and mutual support organizations of vulnerable groups and to encourage their active participation in the decision making process.
Principal Activities of the Coalition
- Monitors and analyses how relevant legal acts are enacted and exercised.
- Provides recommendations and advice to governmental and other institutions on how to address substance abuse and related problems.
- Conducts research in the field of substance abuse and related issues.
- Organizes conferences, educational seminars, discussions and lectures.
- Publishes informational materials on substance abuse and related problems.
